It’s pink, it’s tasty, it’s available in a demi-john – what’s not to love about our exclusive rosé wine, named in honour of a special team member and with a Damien Hirst label
Rose wine is the perfect summer drink, but it can be hard to find a decent bottle when so many are unnaturally coloured or overly sweet.
So when Nick Jones asked Vincent Gasnier to find an exclusive Soho House rose, Vincent couldn’t wait to get started. After blind-tasting dozens of bottles (it’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it) our master sommelier had a clear favourite producer: Château La Coste. “It’s pure, clean, precise and fresh but with weight and depth to match,” Vincent says. “For the quality, the price is outstanding.”
Situated in a Provençal valley, this state-of-the-art vineyard is home to more than 124 hectares of biodynamic production, as well as sculptures and installations (it’s owned by art fanatic Paddy McKillen). Fermentation is natural but takes place in elegant stainless steel vats.
We are serving Lady A in both a standard 75cl bottle and a generous 1.9-litre demi-john. Nick has always been a fan of this larger bottle size – ever since he used to see his Dad drinking wine from one around the pool on family holidays in the South of France. (The demi-johns are bottled onsite.)
So why Lady A? It’s an old nickname Nick Jones used for Markus Anderson, one of our longest-standing team members who turns 40 this year. “Markus has been a loyal member of the team for nearly two decades, and this rose is a fitting tribute to his commitment to the Soho House family,” Nick says.
The butterfly label has been designed by Damien Hirst, a friend who knows Markus as a social butterfly.
Lady A is a blend of Grenache and Cinsault, 2016 vintage, IGP Mediterranee (from the Provence region)
