Workplace by Facebook is the new way for Soho House & Co people to stay connected. Get it now on your phone or computer to see the latest news, message people and post about what you’re up to
It might be a video from Nick Jones sharing a preview of a future opening in Asia. It might be a picture of our chefs manning the barbecues at Art Basel in Miami, or of a new drink in Istanbul. Or it might be a calendar of team events like film screenings, cocktail masterclasses and yoga sessions happening near you.
Since we started testing Workplace by Facebook, all this content has been shared on our news feeds, seen by Soho House & Co people around the world. Available as an app or at sohohouse.facebook.com, it’s a tool to keep us all in touch as we grow, and share inspiration from our sites.
Create an account and you’ll find that it looks a lot like Facebook, with posts appearing on your newsfeed, the chance to “like”, comment and tag people, and a work chat function. But Workplace is completely separate from your personal Facebook account, with a separate app that you can download free on iPhone or Android.
Once you join, you’ll automatically be added to the House Four group, where you can see content from this magazine, and posts from people across our sites. You can also find the group for your site or team – Soho House Barcelona, or Soho House Design, for example – and global groups on subjects you’re interested in, like food and drink. As with Facebook friends, you can follow people you want to hear from and get their posts added to your news feed.
“Workplace is great! It’s an amazing tool to let our teams know about trainings, birthdays, outings and all the other fun things we’re up to,” says Erica Carroll, P&D manager at Soho House Toronto. “It’s also been great to feel more connected with the other Houses and gain inspiration from them.”
At a time when we are trying to cut down on email use, Workplace also lets you plan events, share documents, chat live and make video and audio calls. If you think you might have missed something, there’s a search function to help you find it.
“We’re really excited about bringing Workplace to all our people around the world,” says group project manager Emma Zacharia, who is leading the rollout. “There’s so much going on at the moment, so it’s great to have such an easy form of communication and constantly see what everyone’s up to.”
After being tested by a small group, Workplace is being rolled out across our sites. If you haven’t already, you will soon get an email from Nick Jones inviting you to sign up. It only takes a minute to join, and it’s fun to use.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d like more details, or see below for how to sign up.
