The team behind the new line of Soho Home furniture and accessories inspired by Soho House Barcelona reveal their favourite pieces
For July 2017, Soho Home unveils a new collection of furniture and textiles inspired by Soho House Barcelona. The first House collection since our interiors brand launched, it’s available in Liberty and online across Europe. We asked product developers Kirsty Orr and Carl Weller to talk us through it…
1 How did you decide what to put in the Barcelona collection?
Carl: We visited the House in December last year: it looked amazing and we were able to see the entire furniture and textile collection.
Kirsty: It was great to explore the club and all the bedrooms and decide which were the strongest, most commercial pieces to help our customers recreate the Barcelona look at home. There are so many designs, prints and patterns to choose from that it was a difficult task to narrow it down for Soho Home, but it’s been a really fun collection to work on as we have been able to incorporate new elements such as trims and tassels.
2 What sets this collection apart?
Kirsty: More modern, geometric patterns like chevrons and ikats make the Barcelona collection stand apart from anything we have done before. It is bolder and fresher, with amazing statement pieces like the Rivas bedstead in Mustard.
3 What are your favourite pieces?
Carl: The Isabel chair, with stud detailing in a Colette Rhone floral fabric by Lewis & Wood, will look just as good in the home as it does in the House.
Kirsty: Inspired by the blankets in the House, I love the oversized tassels at the ends of the Marina blanket. It comes in two sizes so will even fit emperor-size beds.
